On the heels of a snowy storm here in the East coast of the United States, more than ever we're dreaming of warm weather and sunny skies. However, if you're not really the tropical, beach-going type — but still want to escape Jack Frost — then we've got you covered with five must-visit global destinations for a hot getaway. Don't forget the sunscreen!

Mojave Desert, USA

Named after the Mojave Native American tribe, this American desert spans over 25,000 square miles in California in addition to areas of Nevada, Utah and Arizona. It's not completely devoid of any greenery, though: check out various species of trees and flowers, plus sand dunes, mountains, and breathtaking rock formations.

Namibia

Do everything from going on an actual safari ride to admiring the coastal town's German colonial-era buildings while in this southern African country. While you're at it, be sure to visit the canyons for some hiking or stop by the river to spot some flamingos.

Sedona Desert, Arizona

See different types of magnificent cacti decorate the desert's sands and admire picture-perfect landscapes in shades of sky you never knew existed. Plus, go for a hot balloon ride and check out the region's arts scene with plenty of boutiques and art galleries. It's the American West at its very best.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Hyper-modern and bathing in luxury, Dubai is a destination for the desert-seeker who also wants to be pampered and have technology at their fingertips. Get a rush of adrenaline from the top of the Burj Khalifa skyscraper or ride a camel through the waves of sand.

Kuwait

Have an authentic Kuwait shopping experience at the souk and indulge in everything from spices meats to dresses to even beauty products like pumice stones and kohl eyeliner. And be sure to take a trip to the top of the Kuwait Towers for a once-in-a-lifetime view.
