As much as we love natural, barely-there makeup, there's something about a fun pop of color on the eyes, lips, or cheeks that is an instant mood-booster. And there's no better time of year than spring to play with pretty pastels and vibrant neons to amp up your look. Here, four new ways to play with colorful makeup in your beauty routine.
Add a pop on top
Switching up your eyeliner is a great way to experiment with fun colors, since you're using only a very small amount of product. Don't be afraid to reach for bright greens, blues or purples to make your natural eye color really pop.
Be a loud mouth
Well, maybe only in this case. But seriously, lipstick can be a confidence booster like no other — whether it's showing off your fun personality with a bright pink or orange (or even cool tones like teal or violet) or keeping things classic with a drop-dead gorgeous red, wearing color on your lips can be empowering, fun, and sexy all at the same time.
Chic cheeks
Wearing bright colors on cheeks isn't just for the stage. A bold blush look with plum or rose can look super modern and fresh — just make sure you keep the color at the top of your cheekbones and remember: a little goes a very long way.
Liven up your lid look
Use your eyelids as a canvas for soft, pretty washes of spring-ready colors like pastel green, pink and lavender. Keep the color on the ball of the lid (allover color can be a bit overpowering) and diffuse the shadow through the crease and highlight the brow bone to keep everything looking bright and modern.
