After we posted two weeks ago about fragrances and artistry in flowers and greenery, our customers and friends have contacted us about their favorite Lebanese florists and nurseries.

Beirut’s Exotica is currently featuring Peonies, which have been a part of Eastern culture throughout history. In fact, the ancient Chinese city of Luoyang is known as the “City of Peonies” and its National Peony Garden is the main venue for the annual Peony Festival, presently underway.

And near the Senteurs d’Orient Boutique in Beirut you can find Jacaranda, celebrated for the beauty of its bouquets.

“In Spring, Earth laughs in flowers” states the website of another Beirut store, Infloressence Atelier Florist, which describes flowers as “a culture, a therapy, a means of communications”.

Nursery Peter Holman is another well-known name in Lebanon, also supplying flora and fauna for the country’s top landscape architects.

For a special outing, consider the Festival of Flowers held in Bekfaya, some 25km from Beirut and located in the Matn District of Mount Lebanon.

And with Spring in full bloom, here are some images from the Far East to savor!

Kawachi Fuji Garden, Kitakyushu, Japan, which many have likened to walking into an oil painting.

We all love the lavender fields of Grasse, but did you know that Hokkaido, Japan also is famous for its lavender?

In closing, we’d like to note that Beirut will be hosting The Garden Show & Spring Festival, May 26-30, at the Hippodrome. The event’s website points out that Beirut used to be known as the “Garden City”, and to mark the Mediterranean city’s spirit, the French rose producer Meilland will present a rose named “The Beirut Rose” at the Show.
