Welcome to a new series on the Senteurist blog, featuring a photo diary of some of our favorite places to visit.

The High Line park, running along the West side of Manhattan (not too far from our NYC HQ!) is one of our favorite places to spend a sunny afternoon (or morning - hey, it’ll be way less crowded.) Extending from Gansevoort Street – three blocks below 14th Street – in the Meatpacking District, through Chelsea, to the northern edge of the West Side Yard on 34th Street, the High Line is the coolest mix of industrial meets nature. (A similar concept to Paris’ Promenade Plantée!)

Vegetation, including trees, shrubs, and grasses line the abandoned elevated railway, which was part of the no-longer-used West Side Line, part of the New York Central Railroad. At 10th Avenue and 17th Street, you can sit along suspended steps and watch cars drive below (prime IG shot!) and nibble on food picked up from super nearby Chelsea Market. (Tacos, burgers, baked goods…you name it. it’s at Chelsea Market.) Also amazing - the Melt ice cream carts that are stationed along the High Line during the summer!

Another great thing about the High Line is the view of the Hudson River. For those who live in a city like us, it’s sometimes hard to remember to appreciate the nature around us. Let’s not forget, guys - Manhattan is literally surrounded by rivers on each side of the island! On a clear, bright day, you can see the rays of sunlight reflecting on the surface, and to be honest, it’s breathtakingly beautiful.

It’s recently become a hub for modern art, too. Whether it’s metallic sculpture peeking out from vines or a mural along the side of an adjacent building, the High Line has become a hub to seriously get inspired. Go see for yourself, and if you take a pic, tag us using the hashtag #senteurssnapshot.
